My family of three had a whole Peking Kao Ya. It was bigger than I expected, and my son (a first-year elementary school student) was able to finish it all thanks to his skill. The crispy skin was incredibly delicious (the skin itself is made of oil, so if you don't like oily foods, you might not like it), and we even finished the soup. I think it was the best food I've had in China (I've lived in China for over a year). It's located on the first floor of the Hyatt Hotel, so it's clean and quiet. It's different from other Chinese restaurants. The staff are well-trained and speak English. I don't remember the exact price. We didn't accept WeChat Pay, so we paid by card (Alipay is accepted). I think it was around 600-700 yuan.

Worth the splurge! Generally hotel restaurants are a bit too generic and over produced for our taste but Xindalu at the Hyatt on the Bund was the exception. The comprehensive menu has all the dishes you travelers might consider "Chinese" cuisine, but that's ok as they do them SO WELL! There are at least a couple of dumpling options, and lots of stir fries and other classics. The cod is one of the most delicious seafood dishes I have ever eaten, worth the price. If you want a fancy, easy, delicious meal in Shanghai this is a great option.

Had a great meal here but it was expensive. The chefs cook behind a glass window and it is interesting to see the methods. A good choice of wine but ensure you ask for the price

Located in Hyatt on the bund, this has to be one of the best Chinese food I ever had. I dined alone and ordered a serving of their legendary Peking duck, and a serve of xiaolongbao dumplings. Paired with a French Bordeaux it was heaven. The duck was roasted and sliced in front of you, served perfectly with a range of condiments and flour skins for you to make your own Peking duck wraps. Heavenly ! Ambience and service were perfect. Pricey but money well spent.

It took me a while to get the feel for the Xindalu Restaurant in the Hyatt on the Bund in Shanghai. Too over styled, too many staff, too much show, I felt unsure at the outset. Having watched the chefs in the open kitchen quickly taught me a different story. Serious woman and men at work, preparing fresh dishes from best produce with skill and dedication. The food is very good, there is no doubt about it. A towering wood oven prepared the signature dish of the house, Peking Duck! Simply perfect! My five stars go for the Duck. But their fresh fish and shellfish is worth mentioning as well. Many very innovative offerings are in the menue. Sadly, some of the most interesting dishes were not available. The space is very modern, the many staff are very helpful and attentative! The wine list could be more extensive! Definitely a place to come to! Peking Duck rules supreme!
